Shipping

Yes, thank you for securing your place in line. All pre-ordered RIVET’s will be fulfilled first. You will receive a tracking number via the courier/shipping method you selected at checkout as soon as your RIVET ships.

We expect to begin shipping RIVET’s (all build options) right around the New Year.

Adding the RIVET of your choice to your cart is the most effective way to calculate shipping. Don’t worry, shipping can be estimated before you enter any payment information.

Yes, the RIVET can be purchased outside of the U.S. however, please note that all orders will ship from the U.S. Accordingly, riders outside of the U.S. may expect to see higher shipping costs.

We continue to evaluate this, and hope to do so. This requires regional warehousing, which for a humble operation like ours is currently infeasible.

Sizing

RIVET will accommodate riders ranging from approximately 4’10” up to 6’6”. Bodies are unique, though, and proportions vary. Riders at the extreme ends of this range should evaluate the RIVET’s geometry before purchasing.  Riders within this range but not at the extremes can expect that the RIVET will ably suit proportions of all kinds.

***please note due to riders unique setup/fits this range may not fully cover on either extreme end of this range***

The caveworks branded saddle allows for approximately (+/-) 3mm of adjustment. Should you choose to spec your own saddle, this amount may vary as different saddles may have different lengths of rail in their adjustment range. The RIVET is spec’d with a 30.9mm seatpost with a 20mm offset, so additional setback (+/-) can be achieved with low additional investment in an aftermarket seatpost appropriate to a rider’s needs.

Technical

Currently, single-speed and geared RIVETs are offered with 170mm,172.5mm, and 175mm cranks. However, we are actively looking into shorter crank lengths and a multi-length crank, always subject to identifying supplier relationships that we are happy with and that preserve our emphasis on performance for good value. More to come on that in the future.

During our testing of 1x12spd drivetrains, we worked with 42t, 44t, 46t, and 48t chainrings. We found that anything less than 46t was insufficient at the top end in SIM mode, specifically during hard efforts in groups, whether sprinting for a segment in a group ride or for the finish line in a race. In these settings, a 11t or 10t cog was too spun out. Further, the 46t worked, but was right on the boundary of offering a quality experience for the stronger riders out there. We assessed that a 48t would solve that, and that it would work well on the lower end via simple adjustments to “trainer difficulty,” which corresponds to the degree to which a smart trainer’s resistance matches the real-world resistance for a given gradient. Essentially, “trainer difficulty” adjustments are analogous to gear ratio adjustments, allowing riders to toggle to their low-end needs even with a 48t chainring.

Please note: Our direct mount caveworks branded crankset is compatible with 3 bolt X-sync-style chainrings, so it can be swapped out to a different size if desired.

Yes, the seat tube is a standard diameter (34.9mm) and a common angle (74.5 degrees), so a front derailleur clamp can be installed.
